“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.” Luke 6:35
If you are anything like me, there are some people I have a struggle liking let alone loving. I learned a little treasure with regards to that many years ago. When I have a hard time loving someone, for whatever reason, I simply ask my Lord Jesus to love them through me. I pray for the Lord to bless them. (He won’t bless them unless they are right with Him.)
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said “If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.” Longfellow’s words are an important reminder every person has a context – a story. Things happen in their lives to make them the people they have become and those things impact our encounters with them. Let’s make those encounters about Him and His love for them.
