HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Happy Father’s Day!

A number of years ago, my wife gave me a door knocker for Father’s Day, with the scripture “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord…”
That little brass door knocker has been a constant reminder of what we have tried to do with our home and family for more than 40 years. It still hangs in our house and is a constant reminder of the commitment we made for our home and family to serve the Lord.

Serving Him is a natural result of trusting Him. We will be serving Him for eternity in heaven.  People who die, young or old, don’t become angels. Not everyone who dies goes to heaven. In Matt. 7:14, Jesus said there would be few. Dad may pray for you but Dad can’t put you in heaven. You may join a church, but that won’t get you into heaven. Serving in any area and doing a lot of good things is great, but that doesn’t gain access. The only way is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. He said, “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through Me.” (John 14:6) And the beautiful thing is that we get to serve Him on this side of heaven, while we wait for that day when we will be with Him. His grace is sufficient. Trust Him and you will want to serve Him.
